The
Hall's History
The original property was the old
“Churchroom or School” that was bought from the Bath and Wells
Diocesan board of Finance and the Parochial Church Council in 1985 by
Ashcott Parish Council. It is held upon trust for the “purposes of a
village and for the use of the inhabitants of the Parish of Ashcott.
Massive fundraising by the villagers continued throughout the
following years and the Schoolroom was demolished to make way for the
present building. The old entrance porch and door, dating from 1852,
were carefully salvaged and now form the entrance to the present
Hall. The new building was opened in 1987.
The Main Hall floor is of sprung
maple and is ideal for dancing. It is licensed to seat 128 at tables
or 240 without tables. The balcony in the main hall extends the
seating capacities.
A unique feature is the hydraulic
stage that can be raised and lowered at the press of a button. It has
stage extensions and full curtains. Drama and musical producers may
like to make full use of our excellent lighting and sound equipment.
An excess noise inhibitor is fitted.
The large kitchen is available to
all hirers, at no extra charge, and comes with crockery and cutlery
for 100 place settings, two refrigerators, an eight-burner/double oven
gas cooker and electric cooker, microwave oven and ample work surfaces
and serving hatches.
Our Premises Licence allows you to
provide your guests with alcohol.
Should
you wish to sell alcohol you must acquire a Temporary Events Notice

this task.

There is good provision for people
