EDINGTON VILLAGE HALL The Village Hall, Edington (Charity No. 278037) plays a large part in the social lives of a great many people in and around the Polden Hills. It is easy to find (see map below) and it shares a site at Quarry Ground, off The Broadway, with the Surgery.

The Hall's History The Hall was opened in 1980 and it has since been extended to accommodate a wide range of activities. The installation of sophisticated stage lighting and audio facilities has attracted professional arts events. A carpeted meeting room with its own toilet facility, kitchen area and separate entrance to that of the main hall adds to its multi-use capability. Car park for 44 vehicles (with additional overflow of 12 on site and 20 more nearby Hall capacity up to 150 seating depending on layout. Committee Room (upholstered seating for 20) Bar area with its own licence/entrance foyer with telephone and toilets and a separate area accessible from both the main hall and committee room can also be used for a bar. It has a kitchen, servery, toilet and separate disabled toilet. Large storeroom Licensed to show films Stage (27m² performing area) with analogue/digitally programmed stage lighting, PA and audio, costume hire and separate side access to changing room and outside door for moving scenery.
Pleasant 1/3 acre grassed area for marquees and for exhibitions and
small fκtes.
Types of Activities Current and past events include: Annual Pantomime and Summer Show Take Art performances (recently on tour following success at the Edinburgh Fringe) Street Theatre productions Fitness classes for all inc under 5s. Various adult classes Village Societies i.e. WI,
Scouts, Brownies, Young Farmers Parish Council meetings including presentations by various agencies Bingo Jumble sales & general fund raising Greyhound Rescue South West Line Dancing Model railway exhibitions, ie Somerset and Dorset Group Private parties for children, weddings, anniversaries.
