The afternoon session of the day was for the Hallmark Quality Standard Awards with the presentation of certificates to those halls which had renewed or completed a new hallmark this year. To view which halls were awarded Hallmarks click here.
In addition to the Hallmark awards two other awards were presented at the conference.
The first one being the Gwilliam Memorial Trophy which is awarded annually by the CCS's Village Halls Committe to a hall that has shown imagination and a considerable degree of self help in achieving their objectives. This year it was clear that there was a front runner which met the criteria for the award so fully that the committee were unanimous in their decision that the winner would be Burtle Village Hall.
The second award was the Trustee of the Year. This is the third year for running this award in memory of Joan Stephens, who was a long standing secretary of Fiddington Village Hall who would have been a worthy recipient of the award. There were four nominations this year and they were; Joan and George England nominated by Charlton Musgrove Memorial Hall; Mike Griffiths nominated by Chilthorne Domer Village Hall; and Gordon Board nominated by Buckland St Mary Village Hall. The decision was tough and the Trustee of the Year award was given to Gordon Broad from Buckland St Mary Village Hall.
