Parishes Housing
This page is to find out more about which parishes our Rural Housing Enablers are currently working with or have helped since the project began.
Abbas and Templecombe: Housing Needs Survey completed in October 2008, due to other housing developments in the parish the Rural Housing Enablers are not actively involved in a project here at present time.
Aller: Housing Needs Survey completed - no further work planned at the present time.
Ash: Housing Needs Survey completed in July 2009, the Housing Needs Report is currently being written.
Ashcott: Housing Needs Survey completed.
Ashwick: Housing Needs Survey completed in October 2008 - currently working with Mendip District Council and Mendip Housing Ltd to progress report.
Axbridge: Housing Needs Survey completed August 2007. SHAL Housing Association are currently working with the Rural Housing Enablers, Sedgemoor District Council, Summerfield Homes and the Town Council to deliver a development of affordable homes for local people.
Baltonsborough: Housing Needs Survey completed. The project is currently on hold due to issues with land availability.
Barton St David: Housing Needs Survey completed August 2008, site identified and Raglan Housing Association are currently working with the Rural Housing Enablers, Somerset County Council, South Somerset District Council and the Parish Council to deliver 10 affordable homes for local people.
Batcombe: 4 affordable homes delivered on site in 2006 following a Housing needs Survey and follow up work with Hastoe housing Association, Mendip District Council and Batcombe Parish Council.
Berrow: Housing Needs Survey completed in June 2004. A second survey is being carried out in September 2009.
Bradford on Tone: Housing Needs Survey completed in June 2005.
Broadway: Housing Needs Survey completed -no further action required.
Bruton: Housing Needs Survey completed October 2008. Due to other housing developments in the parish the Rural Housing Enablers are not actively involved in a project here at the present time.
Buckland Dinham: Housing Needs Survey completed.
Buckland St Mary: Hastoe Housing Association completed a development of 4 affordable homes for local people in January 2009.
Burrowbridge: Housing Needs Survey completed in January 2004.
Butleigh: Housing Needs Survey completed May 2008, site identification work in progress.
Carymoor Parishes: Housing Needs Survey completed - no further action required.
Catcott: Housing Needs Survey completed.
Charlton Horethorne: Housing Needs Survey completed - currently working with South Somerset District Council, Charlton Horethorn Parish Council and Yarlington Housing Group to deliver a small development of affordable housing.
Cheddar: Housing Needs Survey completed in December 2006. Two projects are nearing completion with the aim of delivering a large number of affordable and low cost market homes for local people.
Chedzoy: Housing Needs Survey completed.
Chilcompton: Nineteen affordable homes completed over three phases of development by Raglan Housing Association in partnership with the Rural Housing Enabler project.
Chilton Polden: Housing Needs Survey carried out - 7 affordable homes completed by SHAL Housing Association in May 2008.
Chipstable: Housing Needs Survey completed in October 2003 - no further action required.
Churchstanton: Housing Needs Survey completed - no further action required at this stage.
Coleford: Housing Needs Survey completed - RHEs very involved in site identification/scheme design process. 27 unit Mendip Housing Ltd project planned with the planning application due to be submitted September 2009.
Compton Dundon: Housing Needs Survey carried out.
Cossington: Housing Needs Survey completed in May 2005.
Cranmore: Housing Needs Survey completed, Hastoe Housing Association completed 8 affordable homes for local people in January 2009.
Creech St Michael: Two Housing Needs Surveys completed (2004 and 2007).
Curry Mallet: Hastoe Housing Association completed a development of 6 affordable homes in January 2009.
Curry Rivel: Housing Needs Survey completed - working with South Somerset District Council and South Somerset Homes to deliver affordable housing for Curry Rivel.
Ditcheat: Housing Needs Survey completed - no further action required at this stage.
Donyatt: Housing Needs Survey completed- no further action required.
East Brent: Housing Needs Survey completed May 2008. Falcon Rural Housing Association are currently working with the Rural Housing Enablers, Sedgemoor District Council and the Parish Council to deliver a small development of affordable homes for local people.
East Huntspill: Housing Needs Survey completed September 2008. SHAL Housing Association are currently working with the Rural Housing Enablers, Sedgemoor District Council and the Parish Council to deliver a small development of affordable home local people.
Edington: Housing Needs Survey complted in May 2003 - no further action required at this stage.
Fiddington: Housing Needs Survey completed - no further action required at this stage.
Fitzhead: Housing Needs Survey completed in February 2009 - no further action required.
Hatch Beauchamp: Housing Needs Survey planned for Autumn 2009.
High Ham: Housing Needs Survey completed. Yarlington Housing Group are investigating the possibilty of a very small development of affordable homes.
Holcombe: Housing Needs Survey completed - further work undertaken with Holcombe Parish Council. Rural Housing Enablerd assisting Hastoe Housing Association with project for 8 affordable homes.
Huish Episcopi: Housing Needs Survey completed - Identified need for 6 units. We are working with the Parish Council and South Somerset District Council to deliver this housing.
Kingsdon: Housing Needs Survey completed in October 2008 - no further action required.
Kingston St Mary: Housing Needs Survey completed May 2007.
Langford Budville: Housing Needs Survey completed July 2009. Rural Housing Enablers, Parish Council and Taunton Deane Borough Council are investigating the possibility of a small development of affordable homes.
Leigh on Mendip: Housing Needs Survey completed - need identified - the Rural Housing Enablers worked with Mendip District Council, Leigh on Mendip parish Council and Knightstone Housing Association to deliver 6 affordable homes. Project completed April 2007.
Long Load: Housing Needs Survey completed, site identification work progressing well.
Long Sutton: Housing Needs Survey completed - working with Long Sutton Parish Council and South Somerset District Council to deliver affordable housing for local people.
Lydford on Fosse: Housing Needs Survey complete - no further action required at this stage.
Lympsham: Housing Needs Survey completed May 2008, Falcon Rural Housing Association are currently working with the Rural Housing Enablers, Sedgemoor District Council and the Parish Council to deliver a small development of affordable homes for local people.
Marston Magna and Rimpton: Housing Needs Survey results still under consideration.
Mark: Housing Needs Survey completed in November 2003 - no suitable site for the affordable housing required could be found.
Meare: Housing Needs Survey completed September 2008, site identification work completed with support from Mendip District Council and Meare Parish Council, Raglan Housing Association are currently working on a planning application.
Mells: Housing Needs Survey and site identification completed. Unfortunately none of the potential sites that were identified were available for the development of affordable housing.
Milverton: Housing Needs Survey completed in August 2005, Rural Housing Enablers working with Milverton Parish Council, Taunton Deane Borough Coucnil and Falcon Housing Association to deliver affordable housing for Milverton. Planning application submitted in July 2009 - awaiting results.
Nether Stowey: Housing Needs Survey completed - Falcon Housing completed 7 affordable homes in March 2008. Second housing needs survey completed in March 2009, Sedgemoor District Council and Rural Housing Enablers working on project - procees of finding and securing a suitable site underway.
North Petherton - Housing Needs Survey completed June 2007 and site identification work completed. Negotiations with landowners underway.
Norton Fitzwarren: Housing Needs Survey completed in August 2004.
Norton St Philip: Housing Needs Survey completed in August 2004, a development of 8 affordable homes is planned for the parish.
Norton Sub Hamdon: Housing Needs Survey completed - we are currently working with South Somerset District Council, Norton Sub Hamdon Parish Council and Yarlingrton Housing Group on this project.
Nunney: Housing Needs Survey completed in July 2009, site identification work due to begin in September 2009.
Nynehead: Housing Needs Survey completed May 2005 - no further action required at this stage.
Over Stowey: Housing Needs Survey completed - no further action required at this stage.
Oake: Housing Needs Survey completed April 2005 - Knightstone Housing Association project on hold due to site availability issues.
Othery: Housing Needs Survey completed June 2006 - the project is currently on hold due to lack of suitable site.
Pilton: Housing Needs Survey completed - the Rural Housing Enablers worked with Pilton Parish Council, Mendip District Council and Hastoe Housing Association to deliver 10 affordable homes for rent. Project completed spring 2006. A second stage Hastoe development of 4 more rented units is planned for 2009.
Pitney: Housing Needs Survey completed - no further action required at this stage. Yarlington Housing Group are working on project for 2 affordable homes.
Priddy: Hastoe Housing Association have gained planning consent for a 4 unit scheme of affordable housing for local people due to start on site soon.
Puriton: Housing Needs Survey completed in May 2009. Rural Housing Enablers currently working with Parish Council and Sedgemoor District Council to find a suitable site.
Queen Camel: Housing Needs Survey and site identification work completed. RHEs assisting Parish Council in delivering a Community Land Trust project.
Rode: Housing Needs Survey completed in October 2008. Mendip District Council, Mendip Housing Ltd and the Rural Housing Enablers hope to work with Rode Parish Council to deliver a small scheme of affordable homes for people from Rode parish.
Rodney Stoke: Housing Needs Survey carried out - extensive work undertaken with Mendip District Council, Rodney Stoke Parish Council and Hastoe Housing Association. Project on hold due to difficulty in aquiring a suitable site.
Ruishton: Housing Needs Survey completed in July 2007. Lack of suitable sites means the project is currently on hold.
Sampford Arundel: Possible Housing Needs Survey being set up for Autunmn 2009.
Shepton Beauchamp: Housing Needs Survey completed - no further action required at this stage.
Shipham: Housing Needs Survey completed in September 2008. Rural Housing Enablers working with the Parish Council and Sedgemoor District Council to find a suitable site.
South Cadbury: Housing Needs Survey completed - working with South Somerset District Council and South Somerset Homes to bring forward a sustainable exemplar project of three affordable homes. The scheme was designed to exceed the Code for Sustainable Homes level 4. The scheme was completed and occupied by local people in 2008.
South Petherton: Housing Needs Survey completed, project currently on hold due to other housing developments in the parish.
Sparkford: Housing Needs Survey completed - site identified, Yarlington Housing Group currently working on planning application, work expected to start on site in 2008.
Spaxton: Housing Needs Survey completed April 2009. Rural Housing Enablers working with Parish Council and Sedgemoor District Council to find a suitable site.
Stawell and Sutton Mallet: Housing Needs Survey completed - no further action required at this stage.
Stoke St Gregory: The Rural Housing Enablers worked with Falcon Housing Association on a development of six affordable homes, completed in 2006.
Stoke St Mary: Housing Needs Survey completed July 2009.
Stoke St Michael: Housing Needs Survey completed in 2004. A follow up survey was completed May 2008 and site identification work has been completed. The project is currently on hold due to difficulty in identifying an acceptable site.
Stoke Sub Hamdon: Housing Needs Survey completed, Parish Council does not wish to progress the project at the current time.
Tatworth and Forton: Housing Needs Survey carried out - currently working with Hastoe Housing Association and South Somerset District Council to deliver a development of affordable homes for the parish. The planning application is due to be submitted September 2009 with a start on site date scheduled for January 2010. If the project progresses as expected the homes should be completed by October 2010.
Trull: Housing Needs Survey completed December 2007. Falcon Rural Housing Association granted planning permission in April 2009 to build a small development of affordable and low cost market homes.
Wedmore: Housing Needs Survey completed August 2006. Sedgemoor District Council and Parish Council working on a scheme. Site negotiations recently suspended due to complications.
West Bagborough: Survey completed. No further action required at this stage.
West Buckland: Housing Needs Survey completed August 2009.
West Camel: Housing Needs Survey completed - no further action required.
Wiveliscombe: Housing Needs Survey completed - 16 affordable homes completed in 2006. Second Housing Needs Survey completed in June 2009. Magna West Somerset Housing Association developing scheme of 24 affordable homes.
Wookey: Housing Needs Survey completed. Raglan Housing Association has completed a development of 12 affordable homes. The scheme has been nominated for a Mendip Built in Quality Award.
Woolavington: Housing Needs Survey completed in September 2008. Rural Housing Enablers working with Parish Council and Sedgemoor District Council to find a suitable site.
