New Funding Resources

 

Somerset Community Foundation - 'Grassroots Grants' 

This programme is funded by the Government's Office of the Third Sector and its purpose is to support all informal voluntary and community groups and organisations, many of whom are dependent on volunteers.  This programme will run from summer 2008 until March 2011.  The Grassroots Grants Programme welcomes applications from the not-for-profit voluntary or community groups based in Somerset who have been active in their community for not less than 12 months.  Groups must have an evidence income of less than £20,000 per annum, taking as an average over three financial years (or over the life of the project if it is less than three years old). Awards for All

Awards for All is a part of the National Lottery which aims to fund small projects which involve people in their community, bringing them together to enjoy arts, sport, heritage, charitable and other community activities.  Grants will be awards of between £300 and £10,000 for; publicity materials, venue hire, computers, research costs, transport costs, volunteers' expenses, updating equipment for health and safety reasons, refurbishment, training, seasonal staff, fees to hire equipment, and educational toys and games.

Not for profit groups, parish or town councils, schools or health bodies are all eligible to apply.  Applications can be made at any time.  For more information telephone 0845 6002040.

 

Funding for Community Shops

The Village Retail Services Association in partnership with Esmee Fairbain Foundation and Co-operative and Community Finance have announced the launch of the Village Core programme which will provide £2million of start up funding to new community owned shops in rural areas of England.  The funding will provide up to £40,000 per shop.   Eligible applicans will include community based organisations located in rural communities of less than 200 residents.  Applications for assistance can be submitted at any time up to and including 30th July 2009.  Use the following link for more infomation  http://www.virsa.org/index.cfm/villageshop/News.Custom/page_id/36
