Somerset Community Foundation - 'Grassroots Grants'
Somerset Community Foundation is an independent charity administering a range of funds for the benefit of local communities across Somerset.
Grassroots Grants Programme Criteria
This programme is funded by the Government's Office of the Third Sector and its purpose is to support all informal voluntary and community groups and organisations, many of whom are dependent on volunteers. This programme will run from summer 2008 until March 2011.
Who can apply
The Grassroots Grants Programme welcomes applications from the not-for-profit voluntary or community groups based in Somerset who have been active in their community for not less than 12 months. Groups must have an evidence income of less than £30,000 per annum, taking as an average over three financial years (or over the life of the project if it is less than three years old)
You do not need to be a registered charity but should be working towards a governing document, a management committee and a bank account. Your organisation should be volunteer led and be connected with and/or meeting the needs of the local community.
How much do they give
Groups can apply for a mimium of £250 up to £5000. This can be a one-off payment or a grant spread over the lifetime of the grant.

You will need to complete a Grassroots Grants application form which is available from www.somersetcf.org.uk , together with help notes for each question. Alternatively you can call 01458 833133 to obtain a form.
Applications for grants are considered every 6 weeks.
